Builder-grade homes are beautiful. There's nothing like a blank slate with all the opportunities to dream of. This goes for small details like paint, and big things like changing a hinge door into a barn door. Making the kitchen island look custom is one way to really make it a focal point in the space. Check out how we did just that in this new home.
Originally, the island had flat paint in Incredible White by Sherwin Williams. If you know kitchens, you never want flat paint anywhere near them. You can see some of the scuff marks and signs of wear in the pictures due to this being a high-traffic area. The new paint is in a semi-gloss sheen for easy cleaning in the future.
I like to visualize a project before I execute it, so I often use frog tape to help measure and plan for the next steps. And I always grab at least 3 paint samples to test on the space. Be sure to use the paint in different areas around the room so that you see how the color reflects from all angles. All of these paints came from Sherwin Williams. The gray color is Anew Gray The beige color is Keystone Gray, and the green color is Acacia Haze.
I used a miter saw, primed 1x4 lumber, level, and a brad nailer to complete this project. You'll also want to have caulk, wood putty, and a sanding sponge to complete the look.
This project easy completely doable for a great look on a builder grade island. Let me know if you have questions in the comments!
Love the color you chose!
